In the beginning, training in compassion is done purely on the mental level. Mind training becomes actuality when you use your heart to give to the needy.
But if you reach this high level, it is essential to use analytical reasoning and critical thinking to assess whether your generosity is truly skillful. There is great danger in engaging in heart-centered practices without the balance of intellect.
When it comes to matters of the heart, never give your full trust to someone—or something—without first applying analysis.
